Oficina36 is an office to manage work and representation of emerging artists living in Barcelona. Formed as a non-profit association, it aims to mark itself as a bridge between emerging artists and the areas which make professional the visual arts fields.
The platform born from the analysis of the emerging artistic sector of Barcelona, where two parallel realities coexist side by side. On the one hand the “professional” sector (galleries, exhibitions and art fairs), and on the other hand, the so-called “emerging art” sector where artists are dependant from public open calls to organise exhibitions or show their work without obtaining a professional response by the institution. This fissure that is established between these two sectors does not allow to the emergent artists to accede to spheres where could professionalize his work, and therefore, a hierarchy is established between a work that it is considered professional and visible, and another, which is considered amateur and invisible.
Oficina36 has as its objective the dissemination and promotion of the artists in portfolio to local, national and international level. The actions that it develops Oficina36 to obtain his aims are based in: the exhibition, sale and rent of work, accomplishment, planning and coordination of artistic and cultural projects, and the implementation of conferences, seminars and workshops.
Oficina36 is composed by one portfolios of 9 emergent artists who will remain two years in the platform: Empar Buxeda, Sebastián Cabrera, Roser Caminal, Antònia Del Río, Samuel Labadie, Lola Lasurt, Zeyno Pekünlü, Isabel Servera y Rubén Verdú.
